Ox Year

2007 Year of the Fire Ox

February 7, 1997 through January 27, 1998

" To know the road ahead, ask those comming back. "
- Chinese proverb

The Yin or - negative force will take over this year, balancing out the element of Fire with last years positive +Yang influence. This year is characterized by endurance, as the Ox is stubborn, strong minded and hard working.

On February 7, 1997, we enterd not just the year of the Ox, but the year of the Fire Ox. The nature of Fire is to spread, to force end results and new beginnings. It is expressed in Leadership and the Heart, which circulates the blood. This Ox year is the second in a 12-year cycle, and will be a time of strong emphasis on the traditional; of home, heritage, and ones accomplishments.

This taskmaster of years will, above all, teach the lesson of 'Work before play'. The Ox is enduring, responsible, very hard-working, and expects nothing less from others. Those who resist work can experience an uphill battle during this time. A 'karmic' year in that we will get out of this year what we put into it. What has gone around, will come around, and this is not a year to cross the law or authorities.

During the coming Ox year we can expect some revolutionary changes around the world, as the Ox is an authoritarian who finds others ideas inferior, allowing domineering factions to run roughshod during Ox years. 1997 will be an excellent year for farming and agriculture. The Ox is a friend to the Earth, and knows how to work and respect it properly. Therefore, world food sources increase; as the threat to crops from insects and disease diminish in Ox years.

A fabulous year to marry or start a family as the Ox is equated with Guan Yin, Goddess of mercy and the symbol of parental love. Stick to the familiar, and the tried and true. Take pride and delight in your home and family.

Good luck and blessings to you and yours,
Shelly Wu
